Jiong Ma

Jiong Ma brings over 25 years of diverse experience in investing, building, and scaling global technology companies.  She currently serves on the boards of Anavex Life Sciences Corporation (Nasdaq: AVXL).  She brings expertise in technology innovation, finance, and operations across multiple stages of business.  

Jiong is passionate about solving critical problems through her vision of sustainable climate impact, the future of work, and the future of living.  As a Partner at Braemar Energy Ventures, Jiong focused on venture investments in resource efficiency, mobility, digitization of industry, renewable energy infrastructure, and deeptech.  She was a member of Braemar’s Investment Committee. 

Prior to joining Braemar Energy Ventures, Jiong was with Venture Capital Group at 3i, a global private equity firm, where she led investments across multiple stages in TMT, Digital Health, and Cleantech. 

Before 3i, Jiong held several senior positions at Lucent Technologies and Bell Labs, responsible for product portfolio strategy, new product launches, and research and product development.  Earlier still, she was a founding team member of Onetta, a fiber networks company.

She holds a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, an MS in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a BS in physics and electrical engineering from Lanzhou University. Dr. Ma is a Kauffman Fellow.
